What have we been up to?

This month we fixed a few bugs, made a few important changes, responded to large volume of emails, and approved a large backlog of user-submitted mysteries. We thank each and every author who took the time to write a mystery, and we hope that our community will enjoy the new content.

New stuff, in greater detail

Published new user-submitted mysteries

We again would like to thank those authors who invested their time and creativity into writing new mysteries.

Many of the mysteries we've received over the years were improperly formatted but were solid, interesting, creative mysteries. For those mysteries, we invested a lot of time in fixing things up for the author and re-submitting for them. We then made some changes to the mystery submission process to prevent such common misformatting issues from occurring in the future.

If you submitted a mystery and it was not accepted, you should have received some feedback via email. We encourage you to re-submit your mystery after workshopping it a bit per the feedback contained in that email.

Printer-friendly mysteries

By popular demand, you can now access printer-friendly versions of mysteries.

This option appears in the right-hand sidebar on the mystery solving page. Please note that you must have already solved the mystery in order to see this option!

Ability to delete your account and data

Our world has changed a lot since we last made changes to our website. We're making progress in catching up, though we still have some distance to go. We are aiming for full GDPR compliance soon.

In addition to our new privacy- and data-related documents, you can now easily delete your account and all data associated with it.

You can find this option at the top of the page when editing your profile.

Other privacy-related changes

We have published several documents which we hope accurately captures how we use your information. We will re-visit these documents as needed.

In a nutshell, we don't sell any data, and we don't spam your email — and that's been true since we started this in 2008!

Here's a list of the new documents:

Links to each of these documents can also be found in the footer section of the page.

We have also removed birthday and gender from our sign up page and permanently deleted all of that information from our database.

Stayed tuned...

We have a host of improvements planned for the future. In the mean time, we always appreciate hearing from you. Please use our Contact Us form to provide us with your thoughts. We read each and every message and will reply if asked!

NOTE: Though the publish date of this post is May 10, 2022, it actually went up on August 5, 2025. This means comments won't be permitted, but stay tuned for more updates!
